PLANTING AND CARE INFORMATION FOR YOUR TREE FERN The following Planting instructions are recommended for your new tree fern: Bare Trunks - Prior to planting soak the base of the trunk fully in water. Plant your tree fern in a low nutrient compost to encourage root growth. Preferably a straight ericaceous compost with a slow release fertiliser is ideal. Plant with as little of the trunk as is possible to ensure the plant's stability. This can be as little as 3-4 inches for 1 foot trunks up to as much as 1foot for very large specimen plants. For the first couple of months ensure the plant is copiously water to help establish and help the new root system to establish. Established Plants - Plant the tree fern at the same level as it was in the pot. The compost in the pot will be all you need to plant on. Water copiously after planting from the top letting the water run down the trunk and into the ground. |
